Even when we are in full possession of our five senses, it is difficult for us to understand the world and capture the meaning of life because our perception is limited and subjective. It is just as difficult for us to explain reality, for example when we want to tell others about our experiences : language is insufficient to describe what we are experiencing or what we are going through.
Our perception of the world is limited and subjective (although we are often convinced to the contrary !)
Therefore, we sometimes feel deep inside that we lack the keys to decode the hidden side of things, whether it is nature, human relationships, death or even love. The meaning of our life on earth is a sort of puzzle, the scattered pieces of which are often illegible.
This is where art comes...
Art has this capacity to make us sometimes feel what we know deep down without ever having been able to express it. In an instant. Like a direct and dazzling access to the Universe.
Not that artists know everything. Often, they have an intuitive and unconscious access to a truth, which they transcribe without even realizing it. Moreover, most of the time, an artist does not claim anything, and the true meaning of his art and the messages he transmits sometimes escapes him.
The artist's unconsciousness makes his works ultimately riddles that invite us to feel the truth under the appearance, the spiritual under the material, thus transcending our own reality. Art plays with our senses to take us into the world of the spirit.
It is for this reason that it is impossible to explain why a work touches us : the attempts to rationalize the emotions are in vain because the intellect is not able to grasp the reasons of the heart. It is indeed with our heart that we appreciate a work of art, letting it vibrate to the rhythm of the colors, features and shapes that are offered to our eyes, by imbibing us with the atmosphere, feelings and of the aura emanating from it.
The works of Sabrina Amigoni are puzzles that invite us to feel the truth under the appearance, the spiritual under the material, thus transcending our own reality. The paintings play with our senses to take us into the world of the spirit where our soul flourishes.
In her exhibition "Perception", Sabrina Amigoni has developed a particular reflection on the return to the essential. She focused on a collection this time more abstract, with minimalist accents. Inspired by her various discoveries through nature, she combined her fascination with lithology and geodes, with the sober and linear curves, sometimes architectural, of modern urban areas. Noble materials like wood, sand and gold contrast with resins, going from matte and raw textures to shiny like glass. The artist plays with black as the main color, declining it in different shades, such as velvet black, deep black, candle black, carbon black or even ivory black.
